College News
Congratulations to our awesome graduating seniors who have made their college choices! Yasmine Jaffier-Williams (left) will attend American University. Amabelle Francois (right) will attend Boston College.
Yasmine is very excited to be attending American University. Here’s how she explains her decision to attend A.U.: “I like the idea of being in D.C. for the next four years. When I visited the A.U. campus, I was welcomed warmly and knew that the school takes diversity very seriously. I wanted to be part of a school that was academically rigorous and that made diversity and equity a priority. I also like the fact that they have some interesting interdisciplinary majors that I would like to explore.” We know Yasmine will continue to make her mark on the world in our nation’s capitol!
Amabelle chose to attend Boston College for many great reasons. “I plan to major in psychology while studying for the pre-law track. B.C.'s pre-professional tracks are well respected. I also like the idea of a suburban campus close to Boston. Although B.C. only has a small diverse population, they have a great program for people of color called AHANA (people of African, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American descent).” The Thea Bowman AHANA and Intercultural Center supports the multiracial undergraduate community in navigating college life and fulfilling their potential during the year, as well as providing summer enrichment for a select group of diverse students who have demonstrated potential and leadership with the Options Through Education (OTE) program. Amabelle is off to a fantastic start on her road to becoming an attorney!
